From 1986 to 1993, its second stage development

With China's ongoing reform and the recovery of local property and construction markets, the Company achieved progressive growth in scale. The increasingly scientific management and operation, surging transactions and turnover, growing numbers of profit-making projects and enhanced operational efficiency marked this period as the growing and developing stage of the Company.

In 1986, China Construction Engineering Corporation(Hong Kong Area) was re-named as China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Hong Kong Area) after its parent company's name change.

During the second stage of development, the Company besides actively participated in (HKHA) projects, it also aggressively acquired projects from Architectural Services Department (ASD). Projects included government Indoor games hall, hospital extension and government offices etc.Meanwhile, the Company achieved remarkable breakthrough in private building project by successfully bidding contracts for Tuen Mun Town Plaza, followed by Hilltop Garden, South Pacific Hotel, all with satisfactory economic returns.

The civil engineering business adopted a more diversified approach. The clients profile expanded to include Civil Engineering Department (CED) and Water Supplies Department (WSD). The work scope enlarged from general works for roads, drainage, mountain cutting, land reclamation to airport apron, bridges, rubbish landfill, sewage treatment and other sophisticated works.

From 1992, the Company was awarded as "Best Contractor of The Year" by HKHA for four consecutive years, becoming the only overseas contractor to obtain this honour. In these 7 years, the Company completed a total of 61 building projects with contract value amounting HK$ 7,740 million; 37 civil projects amounting HK$ 8,800 million; and 19 foundation projects amounting HK$ 300 million.
