Environmental protection is one of the fundamental policies of the Company.

In addition to complying with local environmental regulations and fulfilling the clients' contractual requirements, the Company has set up the environmental management system in accordance with the ISO 14001. The Environmental Protection Committee (EPC) is responsible for formulating and carrying out related policies and measures, setting the yearly objectives and targets, protecting the environment, reducing construction wastes and minimizing the consumption of natural resources. The EPC also provides environmental education and training, publishes environmental annual report and establishes effective communication channels. The work group headed by the Environmental Manager is responsible for setting up and implementing the Company's environmental management plan, conducts regular internal audit and supervise the overall environmental performance of the Company.

All the Company's staff and the sub-contractors have the responsibility of environmental protection and work towards continuous improvement in the environmental management system.

In order to realize sustainable development, the Company invests enough human and financial resources for environmental management. Staff training and promotional activities are organized such as "Quality, Safety and Environmental Promotion Month" and "Best Site Management Practices Forum" etc. Various environmental protection equipments are set up on site to control pollution.

"China State (Hong Kong)" was awarded the ISO 14001 certificate in 1998 and is one of the first batches of contractors given the certification. In 2001, the Company first entered and won the HK Eco-Business Awards - Green Construction Contractor Gold Award, which proved that the Company's environmental efforts are being recognized.
